What is DLT and why is it required for Bulk SMS in India?
DLT (Distributed Ledger Technology) is the registry mandated by TRAI (India's telecom regulator) for all commercial SMS senders. Every business entity, sender ID and message template has to be registered before any operator will deliver messages. Without DLT, your messages get blocked at the carrier. We handle the entire DLT registration for you — usually live in 24 hours.
What's a "sender ID" and how do I get one?
Sender ID is the 6-character alpha header customers see on the SMS (e.g., DIGSTU, ICICIB, AMZN). You pick three options at DLT registration; we submit and get one approved. Numeric short-codes (like 800xx) are also available for promotional campaigns. Each sender ID costs a small monthly rental on the DLT portal.
How long does DLT registration take?
For a standard private limited / LLP / proprietorship with valid GST and PAN: 24 hours for entity registration, and another 24–48 hours for sender-ID + first batch of templates. From contract to first live SMS, we target 48 hours total.
Can I send SMS in Hindi or other Indian languages?
Yes — Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, Punjabi, Marwadi, all major Indian languages. Note that non-English SMS uses Unicode encoding which makes each SMS shorter (70 characters per part vs 160 for English). We help you balance copy length with character cost.
What's the difference between DND and non-DND numbers?
DND (Do Not Disturb) is TRAI's customer opt-out registry for unwanted promotional SMS. Promotional messages skip DND-registered numbers automatically. Transactional and Service / OTP categories deliver to all numbers, including DND. We classify your campaigns into the right category to ensure delivery.
Why are some words / phrases blocked in templates?
DLT auto-rejects templates that look spammy or violate TRAI guidelines (excessive caps, "FREE", "GUARANTEED", unsubstantiated claims, certain financial product terms). Our copywriters write templates that pass on the first attempt — our average first-attempt approval rate is around 92%.
What's the SMS character limit?
English SMS: 160 characters per part; longer messages get split into multiple billed parts (160 / 306 / 459…). Unicode (Hindi etc.): 70 characters per part. We optimise template length to keep each message in single-part if possible, and clearly show split-billing in your usage report.
Can I see who clicked the link in my SMS?
Yes — short URLs in your messages are tracked. You see total clicks, unique clicks, click-through-rate, and click-time distribution per campaign. Per-recipient click tracking is available on request.
What happens if the operator route flaps?
Our platform monitors per-operator delivery rates in real time. If a route degrades, we automatically switch to a backup carrier without you doing anything. You'll see this in the dashboard as "auto-failover" events — and your customers don't notice a thing.
Is there a minimum order or annual commitment?
No annual commitment, no monthly minimum. Pay for what you send, recharge as you grow. Volume discount tiers kick in automatically once you cross 1L / 10L / 50L SMS / month.
